Another great day in Skagen !

As usual, two teams on the bird front today : Amélie, Amandine and Viktoria went ringing, joined later by Simon, Jan, Jan and Kristine, while Martin joined Knud for migration counting at Verdens Ende 3. It's always a pleasure to wake up that early to enjoy beautiful sunrises !

It wasn't a busy day for the ringing team, but they still catched a few adult birds for the delight of the ringers. They usually catch juvenile birds, so they were happy to have some older ones !

On the beach side, we witnessed a bit of migration with a few waders coming in or to the sea : Golden Plovers (Hjejle) and Common Snipes (Dobbeltbekassine), and 2 raptors : 1 Marsh Harrier (Rorhog) and a rare juvenile Montagu's Harrier (Hedehog) !!
Since the migration is still a bit slow at that time of the year, we went on the beach to look at the waders, terns, ducks and loons wandering around, and then at the Gulls to see if we can read a few rings. A few had one and they are mainly belonging to Danish and Norvegian programs.

After such a work in the morning, nap time is always a pleasure !

In the afternoon, Amélie and Viktoria went out to Jennes So to prepare the mist nets for tomorrow morning, for a special ringing program.

We finally ended the day at Jerup Strand to look for Terns, and especially to count the Sandwich Terns (Splitterne) and to do a bit of birdwatching.
