Windy Wednesday

onsdag 19. maj 2021
af Laima Bagdonaite

Hello everybody!!

It was a windy day in Skagen today, so unfortunately we could not go out ringing.. same is forecast for tomorrow, so we won’t be back to Kabeltromlen until Friday!

Most of us got to sleep in a little while Rasmus and Jonas went out for the morning observations. They came back saying it was a little boring, but then started listing 2 Great northern divers (Islom), 1 Golden Oriole (Pirol), 2 Black kites (Sort glente) and the first Scarlet rosefinch (Karmindompap) for the year!! So that in no way sounds too boring!

After waking up, Michaela went for a walk and had some adventures, such as nearly sitting on a snake and observing a Sparrowhawk (Spurvehøg) catching a Lesser whitethroat (Gærdesanger) from a bush! She also saw a nice flock of 350-400 Buzzards (Musvåg) coming back from the sea. After her walk we met up outside the lighthouse, admired Lene’s new puppy and then had some icecream in the sun with a friendly male White-wagtail (Hvid vipstjert) walking around us.

Mikkel also slept in and afterwards he was working on various indoor tasks, such as checking the mail, sorting recording data and double-checking the ringing data protocols. At noon him, Simon and Rasmus went shopping, and they also saw some raptors returning.
