Butterfly twitch !

fredag 22. april 2022
af Alice Scalzo

This morning Hanelie was first to get up, she went to Nordstrand for morning observations, and was son followed by Joakim Matthiesen, Jørgen Hulbæk Christiansen, Lars Paaby, that helped her count. There were quite a few Sparrowhawks (Spurvehøg) already, but also Ring Ouzels (Ringdrossel) and kestrels (Tårnfalk). Manuel and Robbe also joined. There weren't many birds, but they saw a Great northern diver (Islom).

Meanwhile I stayed here to work on my applications for universities, and the picture archive. Robbe came back earlier because he had to work on a group project for university.
In the afternoon Hannelie worked on the raptor gps project, and also went into town to get her long awaited haircut ! After that she went to the bakery and bought us some nice pastries, on the way back she stopped at Batteriskoven to see the Camberwell Beauty (Sørgekåbe), there she met Jørgen that was already photographing the beautiful butterfly. Robbe, Manuel, and I also went there a bit later, we also had a nice but short observation of the butterfly.
Reports came about a large sized falcon from Observers at Flagbakken in the afternoon and the pictures later showed what seems to be a Saker Falcon!
Simon looked to get two new telescopes, and talked with future volunteers. Lisa and him also got to see the butterflies.
Tomorrow we will be out ringing, let's hope we get some nice catches !
Have a good evening,
Alice.
