The day started when Esben and I woke up to open the nets. We were joined by Hanelie, Rita, and Leona for the first round. We had only a few birds but it was worth it as we caught another Redwing (Vindrossel) and our first Greenfinch (Grønirisk).
It was also Leona's last hours in skagen, she left just before 9:00 so she had just enough time to ring a few birds with us. We will miss her very much for sure, and I hope to see her soon ! In the meantime thank you Leona for the good company, the laughs, and the talks !

When we came back to the station it was nap time for most of us, as today we have much do to, and tonight too as we will go nightcatching !
Our guests Jesper and Hanne left the station around noon, it was lovely to have them and we wish then a nice travel back home.
In the afternoon we opened the nets at the old lighthouse garden to show a few birds to a family meeting us here. Fortunately we caught one Common withethroat which the children appreciated a lot.
The nets stayed open two more hours for ourselves, and we managed to catch four more birds.
Our new guests arrived in the afternoon. They will be with us for the next week.
Rita gifted us with some pizza that she cooked. Un délice !
We will be leaving soon for nightjar catching, so wish us luck ! We will update you tomorrow on what happened. In the meantime enjoy a picture of Esben looking at his feet with the two thermo binoculars ;)
