my last blog

Meanwhile, Mio, Laura and I went out for the ringing. We caught 22 birds which gave us the opportunity for some practice, without feeling rushed. There were also lots of Crossbills (Lille Korsnæb) flying over and we had a very beautiful male Bullfinch (Lille Dompap) in the end.

Dorthe and Anders joined us at Kabeltromlen for the first check. Afterwards they went for a longer walk and found a Natterjack Toad (Strandtudse). There are not nearly as many of them around Skagen in autumn anymore, so it was nice for them to come across one. Later they headed to the city park to look for Nutcrackers (Nøddekrige), but unfortunately did not manage to find any.

Back at the station, I entered the bird data while Jule checked some ringing sheets with Simon. Everyone had some food and took a little nap and we also spent some time working on the picture archive.

 

In the afternoon I gave a talk about my last internship and my experiences in Peru, which was a nice way to share some of what I have been doing over the past months with everyone at the station! 

 

And with that, this is my last blog post from Skagen for this year, as I am leaving on Saturday :( It has been such a great month here and I am already sad to leave..

 

But the stay is not over yet! Right now, we are getting ready for a nightcatching session at Ellekrattet and we also have a very interesting plan for tomorrow.
