To Steppehøg

tirsdag 9. april 2019
af Hebe Denny

An early morning start as always, Anna and Dante headed off to Grenen to join Rolf. It was a beautiful clear morning, lots of sun and not alot of wind. They had a great morning, with lots of raptors moving through: some of which being 200 Spurvehøg and 2 Steppehøg!!

Simon joined Christel, Flemming and Lene for their weekly meeting in the morning, and later gave a tour too some students and did some excersizes about animal ethics and bird food chains with them, aswell as showing them how to use the DOF app.

After lunch and a nap for some of us, Dante, Anna and I worked out how to set up an old shrimp net as a reed trap in the garden, while Joakim joined his family in town. Later on, Joakim came back to join us for a bit, bringing with him Mads who has come to vollunteer with us for the next week. Then, Simon spent some teaching us all about Moulting in birds.

In the evening we were joined by Sigrid and Niels who have come up for a meeting. They had a lovely journey up to Skagen, spotting two Trane on the way! They went out for a wander and spotted a Spurvehøg and Mads went out walking and spotted his first Bjergvipstjært for the year.  While Dante cooked his DELICIOUS quiches for dinner, Anna and I did some excersize in the sun outside!

After the evening meeting, Niels and Sigrid produced some pretty exciting cakes!! thank you!!! and then off to bed.
