The day starts with migration counts at end of the world #1, such as yesterday and with similar (low) activity. We observed Great Skua (Storkjove) and Northern Fulmar (Mallemuk). We are looking forward to the next days and August to migration to increase!

The large flocks of scoters are still at the coast, so we had a closer look standing at the top of the dunes. Many terns were resting at the tip (Grenen) – in numbers: 210 Common (Fjordterne), 20 Arctic (Havterne) and 30 Sandwich Terns (Splitterne).

If you want to learn more about bird migration and ringing, you may visit our guided ringing tour at the Grey Lighthouse. At 14:00 Mark welcomed the visitors in the yard and gave an introduction about bird migration, methods to study bird migration and, of course bird ringing. He lively demonstrated how mist netting is working – a boy threw a blackbird soft toy into the net. Later on, a real one was caught as well: Chiffchaff (Gransanger).

In the afternoon we build up mist nets for the CES ringing that is planned for tomorrow morning.
